The number one question I get from most customers: "Do I need a motorcycle license to ride a scooter?” The short answer is yes, regardless of engine size. There is a lot of misinformation out there, from the DMV, other dealers trying to sell you a bike, friends, family, etc. Even the California DMV handbook is misleading in that they call a GoPed a motorized scooter. However, you do not need a motorcycle license to buy a scooter and get it delivered to your house only to ride it on the road. It’s easy enough to get the license from the DMV:
People under 21 must take the California approved Motorcycle Safety Class. There are many classes around the Los Angeles area and they are all listed online and usually held at local colleges. -Dave Neighbors, General Manager of HB Scooters Currently available in a 50cc, and 125cc with the 150cc coming soon.
