Here's another example of what happens to gas if you let the bike sit too long without use. The tank needed to be pulled out and sent for expensive sandblasting. Remember to to ride your bikes every once in awhile.
Customer states – "bike stalls." Found milky gas in the tank. I've found water in gas before but never milky contamination like this. I can only assume that the gas station where the gas was purchased had bad gas.
Here's an example of how not to take care of your bike. The customer described the bike as "being in good shape." Here's what ethanol will do to the inside of a carburetor after a few months of not riding. I think that green stuff is algae.
The Sym Jet 14 is an excellent scooter with amazing mpg and great looks.
Come on down to HB Scooters in Huntington Beach to check it out for yourself! Another example of what happens when a bike is left sitting. This gas tank came out of a Buddy 170i after the bike sat for 6 years. The brown sediment along with the greenish slime comes from the ethanol in the gas. The bike was ridden after being bought used and this gunk ruined the fuel pump. We had to have the gas tank sand blasted to remove the hardened brown residue along with all the green slime. Of course, the bike needed a new fuel pump too.
I just had a customer in for service on a Cali Classic 125cc. He told me with the money he's saved by riding a scooter daily he was able to save enough money for a Maui vacation that cost about $6,000.
Pretty good return on his investment with 90 MPG! Classic example of what ethanol does to carburetors if you let your bike sit for too long. That black stuff growing on the jet is nasty. Time to just replace the carb, not even worth trying to clean it.
